GUITAR PERSPECTIVES
Guitar Perspectives is an international festival, academic conference and yearly concert series at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music (MCM), part of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music at The University of Melbourne.
Since 2012, Guitar Perspectives has promoted the diversity and excellence of concert guitarists showcasing a range of contemporary and classical musical styles.
Guitar Perspectives Online Celebration: August 2020
Videos made in isolation by Melbourne Conservatorium of Music staff, students and special guests
The Guitar Perspectives Online Celebration features 40 videos to be released over 7 days, showcasing the breadth and diversity of the MCM guitar program. Staff, students, alumni and special guests have recorded videos from home to share via the Guitar Perspectives YouTube channel from 24 – 30 August.
Music has been contributed from all levels of our program from first year students to PhD researchers. The theme is music made in isolation and most of the videos have been created at home. The means of recording ranges from the simplest iPhone through to semi-professional home studios.
Two international guest who were scheduled to perform and teach at the MCM in August 2020, Marco Pereira and Badi Assad, have provided wonderful videos to the online celebration.

ABOUT
The MCM guitar program, led by Head of Guitar Dr Ken Murray, offers comprehensive courses for the study of the guitar in classical and contemporary styles. At the MCM, guitarists focus on solo performance and ensemble playing in a unique program devoted to the repertoire, styles and history of the instrument.
